The committee have recently been discussing the viability of keeping the delayed 60th Anniversary Dinner in October this year. We believe that common sense tells us that we cannot be sure what the state of the country/world will be in by then, what restrictions could be brought back once lockdown easing kicks in, nor can we be certain of new variants affecting the picture.
While we understand that the vast majority of our members will be double vaccinated by October this is also around the time the booster jabs are expected and may mean that some of us are not as fully protected as we can be. The anniversary is also, by definition, a celebration of the clubs history and the important older members may not have any confidence in the situation to attend an event with 90+ in one room
To make the event financially viable we need these numbers and the feeling is we will not get them and could be greatly out of pocket if we had to cancel nearer the time. Our suggestion is to delay the event for another year when, hopefully, we will be in a much better place but we wanted to give you the opportunity now to have your say before any final decision is made. We will draw the line at the end of this month so if you have a view please let me (paul-durrant1@sky.com) know before then.
