Disability Section Sponsor: Joe Freestone

Our very own Joe Freestone is sponsoring the Disability Section in 2023 & 2024. Joe has represented Springfield Cricket Club at senior level since 2015 in Saturday league cricket from the 4th XI all the way to the 1st XI with him making his debut in the latter in August 2019 at Great Baddow, where he opened the batting with our First Team Captain Charlie Prudence. Joe has also played for us in Sunday and Midweek cricket.

He has since made four more first team appearances, including in the final two matches of our successful HFEL Division 3 campaign in 2022, top scoring with 76 at Stanford-le-Hope. Joe’s top score for the club is 122, when he opened for the 4th XI against South Weald 2nd XI in August 2022.

As well as his contributions for Springfield CC, Joe proudly represents the club in the Essex County Ability Teams and also took to the field for the Pirates in the Final of the inaugural ECB Disability Premier League played at the County Ground in Bristol, the home of Gloucestershire CCC.

Thank you to Joe for his generosity and support of the section that gave him his start at the Club.

Disability Section Sponsor: Alex Blanchard (on behalf of his parents Clive and Helen Blanchard)

We thank Alex for his support of the Disability Section, which he has done in honour of his parents. Alex provided us with these words:
"It is a privilege to be able to sponsor the Disability Team at SCC in Memory of my parents Clive and Helen Blanchard. The club played a huge part in our family, particularly the Colts section when at that time it was run by Ken Godridge.
The tours to Norfolk with the Matchplay team stand out particularly as great memories, and Ken and my Dad Clive formed a great friendship.
Local charities and good causes were important to my parents and with Ken overseeing the Disability Team at Springfield, it seemed fitting that this would be the team to sponsor in their memory".
