Potter Street v Springfield Cricket Club Sunday II on Sun 15 Jul 2012 at 14:00
Springfield Cricket Club Lost 99 runs
Match report
Catches Win Matches (And we dropped 6!)
A game at last! and big thanks to Potter Street for pulling out the stops and getting a pitch prepared, which actually held up well.
Unfortunately we looked like a team that hasn’t played for a month, especially in the field with 6 catches going down which at best estimates cost us nearly 90 runs.
Winning the toss we asked Potter Street to bat on a sticky and soft wicket and despite a good opening spell from Bingham they got off to a good start. This vein continued throughout their innings with catches going down at regular intervals and most of the batters that benefited going on to make the most of their luck.
Taylor did take a great diving catch off Southwell and, off the same bowler, Nightingale stepped up with a stumping (eventually!!). Potter Street made the most of their luck and got away from us at the end and posted a challenging 231 to win
The in form Blundell went early and was followed soon after by Green without scoring. Southwell followed soon after to leave us on 35-3 and up against it
Scoggings batted for a long time trying to steady the ship but found scoring hard to come by. Durrant creamed a couple of cover drives before putting one down the throat of mid off. Bingham helped to make the score a bit more respectable but it was always a tough target and we closed on 40 overs 99 short with 3 wickets remaining
Chay took the man of the match award (will we ever hear the last of that!!) with a good spell of bowling and a great innings of 38, which included some fine big shots, showing the old team members up and making sure we knew it!
On to Presidents Day I think
And perhaps some fielding practice!
