Chignal v Springfield Cricket Club Saturday I on Sat 18 Aug 2012 at 13:30
Springfield Cricket Club Won 4 Wickets
Match report
The hottest day of the season and a trip to the always dangerous Chignal awaited us as we entered the final stretch of the season. We arrived to see a green and fairly used pitch which promised to get more difficult to play on the longer the day went and on losing the toss were pretty obviously sent into the field. CP and Mazza set about their work and in sweltering conditions started well, Maz bowling beautifully without much luck and charlie again picking up a couple of early wickets. At 30-3 we were in control as the spin twins entered the attack but the dangerous Rahman began to plonk us over the 45 yard boundary with consummate ease, as tensions among the team began to rise Brooksy continuing to back himself tweaked one a bit higher and slower and he just couldn't resist... skied ... caught Mani..phew! From that point on normal service resumed, Si bowling tightly and Lee ripping through them finishing with 5-30, Chignal 118 allout.
Our reply started very positively, Curt taking 14 from the first over continuing his great form and along with Lats and Harry we cruised to 73-1, at this point a man watching who should know better after playing and captaining Springfield for Thousands of years ("Oi this ones in the bag") cued our customary lets make it a little bit difficult for ourselves moment, we were soon 6 down still needing 25. Fortunately having Mani come in at 8 could be worse and he and myself successfully knocked off the remaining runs with little drama to record a 4 wicket win and another 25 points in the bag.
Gt Totham are the visitors to the Corra next week with us sat 24 points clear of both Peveral and Hi Roding with just 2 games remaining.
