Match report
Sunday came again and it was time for the circus to play their first home game of the season. As the players rocked up to get ready for the match a certain Senior player, not mentioning any names Si, was horrified to see the orange 20/20 stumps had found their way out to the middle, He had a rant and then when finished took up his position at the bar. The opposition turned up and I went out to do the toss I lost it and they put us in to bat, MISTAKE!!!! As the Fred Lambert Stand filled with excitement with the usual suspects, I sent out Cadman and Curtis to get us off to a good start which they did both getting very good 50’s we reached 135 for 0 before Curtis was caught off a no ball but young Matty Hartley was a bit scared to call it never mind, this brought Golden Boy to the crease shortly after he got there Cadman was gone caught and bowled off a pretty sharp chance. From 135 for 0 we were now 146 for 2 which gave cavillers some hope of skit ling the rest of the line up but this was short lived with plenty in the hutch, Donegan went on a power hitting assault smashing 75 off 43 balls which included 6 4’s and 4 6’s. The innings came to an end after the captain had come in and knock a stylish 3 not out off as many balls and his right hand man with the shakiest 13 not out ever seen in cricket we had reached 258 for 5 off 45 over’s.
Tea came and went and we went out to field Attwell and Hartley opened the bowling, Attwell getting 2 early wickets and Hartley bowling well and keeping the run rate down, Dancey came on and carried on Hartley’s and Attwell superb start bowling his 10 over’s straight off by the time Attwell had finished bowling his superb spell, I had to look around the field and find someone else to bowl there was no one! So I waved to Tim to get lose and bring his slow spinners to the party he kept it tight and with the vital half tracker removed there batsmen as the ball was flat batted back at him to deflect onto the stumps, He bowled a few more over’s before getting tap and requesting he be moved from the spotlight (not to save his average). So it was down to me still sore and aching from the previous days express spell to finish the job, I trundled up to the wicket for a 6 over spell of 3 for 35 the game was over!!! With 1 wicket left and Hartley bowled out I needed a bowler for 1 over from the car park end and before I could ask anyone a certain man in a stupid Baggy red hat had taken the ball and marked his run up (Not that he has one) he waddled in and bowled the worst half tracker of the day which the batsmen dumped down Attwells throat, He ran off taking his jumper off swinging it round his head Flintoff Style in India and shouting Get in there!!!! (Very Funny) another good victory for the circus who have their toughest test yet at home to High Easter Next Sunday.
