Ardleigh v Springfield Cricket Club Sunday I on Sun 15 Apr 2012 at 13:00
Springfield Cricket Club Won 56 Runs

Match report The Springfield Circus roared back into life for the 2012 season where our main goal was to pick up some silverware or at very least promotion, So chalk’s army rocked up to a very wet Ardleigh ground with 1 thing in mind to BAT First and without my right hand man who was sunning himself I went out to do the toss, WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER 1 from 1 for the season so we batted, I looked around and selected Clarke and Curtis 1 of our 3 Overseas Australians to start us off. We got off to a steady start until Clark was removed LBW (SHOCK) Don’t worry though he hit it even though the cherry was on the wrong side of his bat, In came number 3 a very old looking man compared to the rest of the team apart from Si of course, Jim then went about slapping Ardleigh to all parts of the wet Ardleigh ground. The 3 Aussies Curtis, Harry and Cadman came and went all scoring 14 Cadman with the best of the 14’s coming off just 5 balls, This brought lighters to the wicket and then lighters left the wicket, more runs were put on the board by Jim and Bryn before Bryn was out, This brought T-Roy to the wicket where he revelled in the slow conditions putting on a 50+ partnership with Jimmy. Ardleigh then brought on their secret weapon to get rid of Jim who was bowled through his legs, a couple more over’s were left where we added a few more runs and closed on 191 for 7 from 45 over’s a good score with our attack and conditions how they were.

Tea was taken and we went out to field confident that we could defend the score we had set after a bundle of tight over from Si and Charlie we got our break through Si Bowling their opener for 11 Si bowled out and I came on at the other end to replace Charlie as he’s only allowed to bowl a certain amount of over’s as he is a baby Still. We carried on bowling a lot of tight over’s when Si had Finally bowled out he had gone for a superb 18 runs off his 10 over’s which is why he is regarded as the premier spinner in the league. Wickets fell at a steady pace with only Cole showing any resistance with a swinging 58 in the end Ardleigh were bowled out for 135 well short of what we had set them, with Cadman, Curtis taking their first International Wickets with the highlight being Curtis bowling running up not looking where he was bowling and then running off like a west Indian fast bowler get his first test match wicket, Classic, Bryn picked up a couple to get the Circus off to a winning start on our quest to winning some silverware.
