Most of you would have seen in the press lately about free kids meals and making sure kids don't go hungry. Now that we are in the middle of the second national lockdown it has perhaps become much more important and wider than just school kids so we have looked at ways this club can help as we approach what for many will be a tough and testing festive period, this year especially.
After our successful Easter egg donation where we raised over 150 Easter eggs for the ambulance service in Springfield (big clap for you all) we are looking at donating to a local Chelmsford Food Bank, most likely the one at Beehive Lane, just before Christmas (and hopefully at the end of Lockdown v2.0)
We are now asking for you to show the clubs social spirit and generosity again and add a few tins to your weekly shopping trollies between now and December 12th when we will deliver the goods to the Food Bank. Baked beans, soups , pasta, rice, tinned vegetables etc would be perfect and low cost and of course these don’t need to be your expensive high end food, the basic ones will be great!
We have a target in mind of 500 items and given the size and spirit of the club has shown in the past this should be achievable.
You can deliver any food you want to donate to James at 12 Forefield Green CM1 6YU or if you prefer (and the clubhouse is reopened before the day) drop off at the club for us to pick up. For those that would like to donate but cant get out to either do the shopping or deliver Paul is happy to shop for you (and get your money later!) or drive round to pick up from you on the day.
Closing date is Saturday December 12th Midday, after which we will take what we have.
Thanks to you all again for what I know will be a great response from a great club
James and Paul
