President's Week

01 Jul 2016

President's week is fast approaching and festivities kick off this year on Wednesday 13th July with the start of our summer beer and cider festival @ 6pm, which unless we drink it all will run all the way through to Sunday. Gary has sourced many barrels from all our county's finest breweries, including Mighty Oak, Bishop Nick, Felstar, Round Tower, Wibblers and Delvin End to name just a few. Alongside the start of the beer extravaganza Paul Durrant will be leading the first game of the week against our friends from Eastons T20, Weds 6pm.

On Thursday evening Charlie Prudence's T20 team take on Terling in the Warsop Cup competition @6pm, the BBQ will be roaring and the Delvin End cider will be beginning to take affect!

Friday see's us welcome Chelmsford in the Essex Foundation T20 Cup @6pm, there will also be a Curry on in the evening to soak up all the beer.

Saturday we return to normality with the Saturday 2's and 4's taking on Aythorpe and Hornchurch.

Finally on Sunday (17th July) we come to our showpiece event of the year, Presidents Day. We start in the morning with the U12s v Coggeshall in the Peter Coe Cup and the U9s taking on Billericay. Following a spot of lunch via the BBQ the First team will take on a President's XI on the main pitch and a round robin 15 over touni will commence up the top between our U15s, the Sunday boys and our brother's on tour North Weald.

There will be bouncy castles, kwik cricket, volleyball, music and more ice cream/lollies than the Walls factory to keep the sprogs amused whilst you soak up the cricket, the sun (please god!) and the bountiful food and beer/cider/Pims/Prosecco etc etc etc etc on offer.

There is also the possibility of seeing some fools run around while playing some strange games in the evening!!

Obviously there is much to be done on the day. There is a food board up in the club that we ask you to explore and contribute to (or concoct your personal masterpiece), also at the bar there is rota for 1hr shifts serving behind the bar on the day (2 people at a time). Any help in the kitchen I'm sure will be greatly appreciated and people to help cleaning up first thing, 7.30am onwards is certainly needed.  Please make the effort to help out in anyway you can.

We hope to see everyone associated with the club past and present along with your families for what should be a great day!

Jim.
