Springfield Cricket Club Saturday I v High Roding on Sat 18 Jul 2015 at 1pm
Springfield Cricket Club Won 144 runs

Match report Week 12
Another fine Sunny day over at the Corra where the 1st team looked to carry on with their winning ways.
This weekend saw High Roding looking to do the double over us, as a very below par performance saw us lose over at their place WHEN, but the boys were keen not to see this happen again.
With plenty of games being played in a midweek which saw the over 25s beat the under 25s, (however we won't keep going on about that, well maybe till we play again next year) the boys had played plenty of cricket and maybe a few more of them having a few (real ciders).
Springfield won the toss and once again the skipper looked to his batmen to build a big score. What was about to follow was not the best start to the game, young Charlie and Mani, who was still drunk at this point and I might also add, had finished a chicken burger off 2mins before the start of play, saw us 1-2 in the first over.
Yet again we had to rely on the two in form batsmen in the league, Jim and Latimir Jones.
On a difficult track where there was plenty of pop to keep the bowlers interested with Holegate and Limerick bowling good spells. The score board started to tick over slowly but heading the right direction.
Latimir Jones again looked class punching shots through mid on and mid off with ease.
Jim on the other hand struggled to find the middle of the bat, but we knew with Jim's experience he would get himself through this tough spell of bowling.
When the score was 100 in came Clarky, who was not his usual irritating self. (matter of opinion,Ed.) Something was just not right, signs of old age seemed to be kicking in and carrying a couple of injuries. 1s were not being converted into 2's, but the scoreboard was again moving at a nice pace.
Jim and myself set about getting us up to a good score when just before 200 I fell for 40, bowled by Gallop who earlier had dropped me on 0!!!! Not much more to be said on that!! There was also more drops which helped Springfield to their final total.
Big hitting Chay was then sent in but he seems to have forgotten how to hit a long ball and again fell cheaply.
Wickets kept falling after that with Hudders and Chalky both not really troubling the scorers. Jim was still going along nicely and started to find the middle of Charlie's bat...something Charlie could do with really!
With the score now on 250 odd and an over left, it was down to the tail and Jim to finish it off. Jim bought up his 100 in excellence style with a massive 6!
Springfield finished the inn on 261 all out.
On another note Sam Brown has taken the Neil Lightfoot trophy for piss poor backing up. So well done Sam Brown congratulations to you. (Couldn't agree more Ed.)
After another wonderful tea, where Chalky, Ben and Charlie had all filled their boots, I mean bellies up it was time for High Roding to set about chasing Springfields score.
With Sven away this gave a chance for Chay to be given the new ball and Ben to bowl his normal away swinging gems from the other end.
Chay did not let the side or himself down with a fine opening spell which was quick and nasty and was unlucky not to take a wicket. Ben was getting the ball to seem about and got the dangerous Adam Holdgate. After that wickets kept falling regularly with Matt 'helmet' Chalk (4-26) and Lee Brooks (3-22) bowling well. High Roding faded to 117 all out on a pitch that was turning and popping a lot. Another massive win. We travel to Bentley next weekend, for yet another big game. Which I'm sure all the boys are looking forward to.

Many thanks
Irritating Clarky
