Springfield Cricket Club Lost 10 wickets
Match report
2nd Tour Match
Well that didnt go too well!
It all started much better as well. Typically for the tour team the second game usually sees a step up in performance as the beer heads clear and we remember that its a Cricket Tour as well as a "social"!!!
Again winning the toss we decided to bat and Blundelski saw us of to a good start despite loosing Dan early. Tim assisted for a while to reach 13, Luke again missed out and Chiz couldnt follow up his good work in the first innings. Jimmy, now emerging from his booze and kebab fest the previous night unleashed hell towards a great score of 46, beaten only by Blunders reaching yet another 50, possibly explaining the forthcoming "Colgate Gate" episode with the local constabulary. The skipper again found a not out as well, pressure, what pressure?
Closing on 148 we fealt reasonably confident that we were in with a shout
That didnt last long
Tom (another that decided he wanted to meet the Bucharest Plod after trying to see how hard his chin was against the local cabbie's fist) decided that he wanted to get back to Oscars as soon as possible and with Gould at the other end set about destroying the Springfield bowling. Both reaching over 60 not out.
A great win of 10 wickets for LB!
Champagne Moment: Was the sly old swerve from Jones, who after getting hit for 31 in 2 overs suggested to the exasperated captain that "I think Geoff would be better against these skip"
The only bowler not to get pasted was Paul (OK, so I didnt actually bring myself on, but would you want to bowl against these?)
So the T20 competion saw us close with no wins, 1 50, only 6 wickets taken and NO catches (which also includes the final mixed game the next day)
Calls were made for the skipper to fall on his sword but a concerted effort by me to get all the people demanding a TV conference plastered before 10pm (not that hard I grant you) worked and I remain defiant!
Another great tour, with huge thanks to our Hosts (especially Mike who "only came out tonight for a couple to get you going boys"), to Little Baddow and most importantlt to Oscars!
Finally to Rus for doing all the hard work so all we have to do is turn up and play cricket...........
