SAT. 14 JUNE After a conspicuous start (losing the toss), the Captain turned hero with a magnificent 123 , supported by Damo Westwood 70, as the first's chased down Lt. Waltham's total of 258 in just 35 overs!. Mick Jordan returned to his best, with figures of 12-4-25 1 and Ben Foster kept up his recent good run, with 3 for 56. Recent signing Ben Coward-Talbot also picked up 3 wickets on his debut appearance for Springfield. The 25 points gained, returned Springfield to the summit, after High Roding lost to Pegasus & Corringham. Brookweald batted first and totaled 278 - 7. Barrett 12-2-49-2 was the pick. Springfield started very aggressively, but lost early wickets. Kennedy and Bass then came together and gave Springfield hope with a hard hitting 80 run partnership. Bass however, went one hit too many and was superbly caught for 51, and we subsided for 195 all out. After finally arriving at the right ground! Jonesy won the toss and batted first. Latimer was the mainstay with 83 in a total of 169 - 9. However Foulness got home for the loss of 5 wickets in 43 overs. Symo snr. won the toss and elected to bat. | SAT. 21 JUNE
After winning the toss and batting we soon realised the pitch had a little bit in it for the bowlers and it showed as we struggled up to a competitive 215 for 6. Scottie 48 was the mainstay of the innings and with Eley 37*, Mortz 29 and B. Foster 20* all contributing. The pace attack of Wardy and Ben Foster, 3 for 34, soon had Pegasus reeling at 55 for 5, but a combination of poor fielding and good rearguard batting saw them home for the loss of 6 wickets, 217 for 6. |

| SAT. 2ND against HIGH EASTER
Flub flicked the coin and lost his eighth toss in a row but fortunately was asked to bat. This soon proved a poor decision as 15 year old James Latimer (on debut) smashed 134 not out. Despite a 100 from the opener, High Easter eventually finished on 255 for 6, James Howarth was the pick of the bowlers with 11-0-40-2. Russ and his band of merrymen fielded against Gt. Totham and were assisted by the opener, who helped to run out half his team mates, in keeping them down to 199 for 8, with Rusty 3 for 51. Lewis 81* and M. Southwell 83* knocked off the runs to complete a superb 10 wicket win, 203 for 0.

The skip got us off to a flier with a hard hit 76, and with Chignal smashing the bowling to all parts for 97 we managed to post a healthy 272 for 6. In reply Hatfield Peverel's young batting line up, struggled against the pace of Wardy and accuracy of Fozz, but it was B.C. (Talbot ) who stole the show with 2 for 42. Scotty also bowled well 2 for 53 as Peverel finished on 209 for 7. Flub loses the toss ( shock horror! ) and Navestock batted first. Despite good bowling displays from Widge 1-35 off 12, Flub 2-37 off 12 and Howarth 3-57 off 10, Navestock posted a respectable 214 for 10. Springfield looked well placed with Howarth batting well for 56. and the returning space cadet whacking 51, but three quick wickets left Widge and Pies, needing 13 off the last over and finally six off the last ball to tie. Cometh the hour, cometh the Kendo as he dispatched the ball over the sight-screen to tie the game 209 for 8. The thirds played a strong Fyfield team, and on a sporting wicket were skittled for 105. only Martin Southwell resisted with 48*. Fyfield then cruised home for the loss of 4 wickets 108 for 4. The fourth team juggernaut came to a grinding halt against Broomfield. After restricting the opposition to 201, Womble 2 for 42, we struggled to 160 for 6 against a first team bowling line up. Only Bob Howell gave resistance with 63*, but with a 20 point gap over Broomfield, we are still in a good position. |

| 12 JULY
The first team traveled to High Riding looking to put recent bad results behind us and get back in the title race. Our hosts batted first and despite a fine bowling and fielding display, finished on 222-8. Wardy was the pick of the bowlers with 1-26-12. In reply we got a solid start, but due to 3 very unfortunate dismissals and a good performance in the field by High Roding we finished 39 runs behind 184-9. Scott top scored with 80. Mortz proved to be the match winner for the seconds on a very sporting wicket at the corra. Not happy with ripping out Terling's middle order with 6-38 leaving at 150-9 at the end, he helped himself to 46 not out in reply as Springfield won by 8 wickets 153-2. The third's played a very strong Eastwood at Belfair's Park who rattled up 307-4, David Steel's 2-2-58-1 being the pick of the bowling. In reply Richie top scored with 50 but we only amassed 116-7 against a side playing a few leagues below themselves. The old gits and young whippersnappers marched on with another (yes you've guessed it) AWESOME display. Shorty (61) and Bob (69) were the stars in setting 227-8 and with Chalky claiming his maiden league 5 wicket haul, Ecko Monarchs withered to 128 all out.
