NEWS

Australian Experience
Hope all is well and the season is going better than Darren Pattinson's test debut!

Our cricket season begins mid October and we are always looking for new players. If there is anyone at Springfield CC that might be thinking of an Australian 'Experience' can you tell them to please get in contact with me? We've had a number of English and Indian cricketers at our club over the last few years and any new players are always made very welcome.

Anyway, thanks for your time, say g'day to anyone that remembers me! Joel Spry

Rickling Green 6 a side
Sunday 13th July

The first silverware of the season was snaffled on Sunday with Radders and myself accompanied by supporters Lambo, Curtz, Claire, Angie, Coppo and Widge representing Springfield for the Finance & Leasing (London) Limited team in the Rickling Green 6 a side tournament.
A great day was had by all and a big thank you goes to Tim Garner for inviting us and plying us full of booze and food. The champagne moment of the day was Radders catching Phil Defretais in the final (off his chest) and Lambo's wonderful display of movement to the one man ska band in the evening.
Essex great Neil Foster led us to glory and the other players on show included Devon Malcolm, Phil Defreitais, Bill Athey, Mark Illot and Peter Such.

We have also been awarded an Awards For All Grant of £4,800 from Sport England, who distribute Lottery Funds

Trevor Johnson, Club Chairman, stated that this award will give us the opportunity to satisfy the current demand for children in our local community for cricket coaching, it will also improve our facilities to coach children with disabilities and to add to the 14 England & Wales Cricket Board Coaches that we currently have, building to further the Centre of Excellence for Colt Cricket at Springfield Cricket Club.

Currently our club is coaching cricket for over 130 children at the indoor nets at The Boswells School every Friday from 6pm to 9pm.
