Welcome to Springfield Cricket Club. We have been based at Coronation Park, our home ground since 1961. The clubhouse, with bar and catering facilities was built in 1971. The club has four teams on Saturday, four are in the T. Rippon Mid-Essex League, two teams on Sunday and four colts teams in the Central Essex Junior Cricket League, and an under 16 in the Matchplay.

Springfield Cricket Club deeply mourns the passing of Bruce Curtis on 6th May.
He was a Trustee of the Club and during the years he has served as Club Secretary, Bar Secretary and Social Secretary. He was a great friend to all and will be greatly missed.

The funeral will be held at Chelmsford Crematorium on 20th May at 11.45 and afterwards at Springfield Cricket Club. Flowers, or donations to Farleigh Hospice c/o Pennacks & Sons Funeral Directors 1-3 Maldon Rd, Gt. Baddow Chelmsford. 01245 471157.

SPRINGFIELD COLTS
 Colts training evenings under 13's, at Springfield Cricket Club, first training session starting Tuesday 15 May 18.00 to 19.30. at Coronation Park.
Under 13's girls team also starting Tuesday.
All new members, please turn up and speak to Paddy O'Riodan or Ken Godridge.

 

OUTDOOR CRICKET NETS
The outdoor cricket nets are now up at Coronation Park, for all those who wish to use them.

 

A Little Waltham player is trying to get planning permission to convert one of his grain stores to an indoor cricket net.
He aims to make the facility as good as Essex, with full length nets and matting, bowling machines and excellent lighting. The planning application is being considered by the Borough Council at the moment, and if you think its a good idea and would like to support the bid, you can do so by clicking on the following link:

We would like to welcome a new player joining us this year, whose name is Manpreet Mander. He has been playing in Kolkata for the last 14 years. He started playing 1st division in 2003. His first club was Tollygunge Agragami, then he played for the Highcourt Club in 2004, and this season he was appointed vice captain of the Highcourt Club. He has also represented Sikkin U- 17 and U- 19 state team.

FAMILY QUIZ NIGHT

Well done to the Hartley Family (Jamie Dodgers) for winning the quiz, closely followed by Look At The Size Of Those Blokes.

Thanks to Neil and Claire for a well organized, enjoyable evening for all, Mike and Gary for running the bar, Emily and Katie for selling the raffle tickets and helping with the marking, Boots for all the raffle prizes and everyone else who contributed to a great evening.

 

CRICKET TOUR 2008

CLUB NEWS

We have been confirmed as an England and Wales Cricket Board Clubmark Focus Club, which confirms our commitment to being a safe, effective and child friendly cricket club.

We have also been awarded an Awards For All Grant of £4,800 from Sport England, who distribute Lottery Funds

Trevor Johnson, Club Chairman, stated that this award will give us the opportunity to satisfy the current demand for children in our local community for cricket coaching, it will also improve our facilities to coach children with disabilities and to add to the 14 England & Wales Cricket Board Coaches that we currently have, building to further the Centre of Excellence for Colt Cricket at Springfield Cricket Club.

Currently our club is coaching cricket for over 130 children at the indoor nets at The Boswells School every Friday from 6pm to 9pm.

We would like to thank Sports Development at Chelmsford Borough Council and the Cricket Development Team at Essex County Cricket Board for their help in compiling our application.

Springfield Cricket Club is set in the heart of its Local Community, working in conjunction with Chelmsford Borough Council, Local Schools and Essex County Cricket Board, truly a Cricket Club for all.
