Third Match Report of the season
Springfield v Bluehouse Bluehouse captain won the toss and had no hesitation in putting us into bat. After losing an early wicket Wayne & Bob Howell put on 60 for the second wicket Bob 33 Wayne 22. Then Predesh Philip took control of the game scoring a very hard hit 85. A couple of his sixes were so big the fielders didn't even bother looking for them. Will Coplen supported well scoring 38 and the innings finished at 239 for 9. In reply Bluehouse never looked like making the runs losing 4 early wickets. only Nigel Pegg with 30 threaten to worry Springfield. Predesh Philip 3 for 29 and Wayne Howell 3 for 45 accounted for the top order. Mark Patterson rapped up the tail, taking 2 for 14 to give Springfield a 81 run victory. |

After a tight opening spell from Dan Northfield, Wayne Howell came on and soon broke the opening partnership. He continued to bowl well and got his 2nd wicket with his last delivery finishing with 2 for 46. In reply Springfield started steadily with opener Bob Howell scoring 35. Neil Kennedy then came in and upped the run rate scoring 34 at better than a run a ball. James Clarke batted well scoring his first league 50 finishing with 55. First Match Report of the Season
Springfield III v Woodham Mortimer Springfield won the toss and elected to field. After a steady start by Woodham, Predesh took a hat trick, all three bowled middle stump. This being Predesh's first ever hat trick. Next into action was James Clark who took 2 wickets with consecutive balls but he couldn't get his hat trick. At 90 for 5 off 22 overs at drinks time the spin twins, Trevor Johnson & Bob Howell were unleashed upon the Woodham batsmen. Between them they bowled 21 overs 5 for 50 to see Woodham all out for 156. In reply Springfield lost 2 early wickets, but a fine 50 from Paul Richardson against some tight bowling set Springfield up needing 80 off the last 20 overs. A 35 from Matt Cook and 42 not out from Will Coplen saw Springfield to a 5 wicket victory with 5 wickets remaining. - Report from Neil Kennedy

SENIOR
CRICKET
Cricket practice continues to run at the Writtle Cricket Centre on Sunday evenings from 5.30pm to 7pm. Attendance has been excellent and a number of players are showing some good form no doubt due to the practice they have put in. SUBSCRIPTIONS We are a few months into the New Year now and we would remind you that 2009 subscriptions are due now. Please see Martin Lambert at the club. COLTS CRICKET Colts practice is still running on Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons. On Fridays we are at Boswells School between 6pm and 8pm. On Sundays practice is at Mildmay (Essex University) between 4pm and 7pm. We would like to see a few more faces at practice as we get nearer to the start of the season. It would be really great to see few of the senior players attending to help with either coaching, setting up or clearing up. We only need an hour of your time every now and then.
